Fork lift trucks and materials handling equipment are produced by lots of different manufacturers and come in many different types and models.They vary in size length and shape, there can be lots of variation in there controls, lifting heights, rated capacitys, motive power, and in the way they steer. they can be old in design or ultra modern. They range from pedestrian pallet trucks to the largest telescopic and rough terrian trucks, all of these machines are designed to operate in many kinds of industry. Regardless of a machines simplicity or complexity they all industrial motorized vehicles with the ability to cause serious damage to both property and human beings when used by people untrained and unfamiliar with the risks associated with there use.

It is because of the above metioned that all of these industrial trucks have been placed into industrial truck groupings, and can only be used by qualified operators who hold certificates for that truck group. Some employers have a misconception that operators who hold Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck Certificates for example, can operate Pedestrian Pallet Trucks. THEY CAN NOT Sometimes employers think that operators who have been using the trucks for such along time have grandfather rights!
